5th Berger Architect Award Competition Announced

On 23rd June 2011, the 5th BERGER AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURE (BAEA) competition has been formally announced. From 2003, Berger took the initiative of recognizing and awarding the works of talented architects of the country and this competition took place after every 2 years. The competition comprises of 2 categories. Apart from awarding Young Architects for their works, the other main category recognizes and awards distinguished architects of the nation. Both categories have 2 sub-categories Residential and Non-residential.

On the occasion of the 5th BERGER AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURE (BAEA), a press conference was arranged. Mrs. Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, Mr. Mohsin Habib Chowdhury, General Manager Sales and Marketing, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, Architect Mubasshar Hossain, President, Institute of Architects Bangladesh, Architect Jalal Ahmed, General Secretary, Institute of Architects and 5th BAEA award coordinator Achitect Istiaque Jahir Titas were present at the press conference.

In her speech, Mrs. Rupali Chowdhury, mentioned Berger's social responsibility of recognizing and awarding the works of reputed architects of the country. At the same time, she also said that Berger has always inspired and encouraged young architects to come forward. Mr. Mohsin Habib, in his speech, stated the whole concept of organizing the BERGER AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURE. Achitect Istiaque Jahir Titus also explained the modalities of the award competition.

For the 5th BERGER AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURE (BAEA) the jury board comprises of Architect A.S.M Ismail, Chief Architect, Ministry of Housing & Public Works, Architect George Kunihiro, President, Japan Institute of Architects and Chairman ArcAsia, Architects Mahmudul Anwar Riyaad, Managing Partner, DWm4 Architects, Architect Marina Tabassum, Managing Director, Marina Tabassum & Associates and Dr. Khondokar Sabbir Ahmed, Professor, Architecture Department of BUET.
