16th Berger Young Painters' Art Competition

The 16th Berger Young Painters' Art Competition Award Giving Ceremony was held on December 1, 2011 at Dhaka Sheraton Winter Garden. The most esteemed award - Berger Life Time Achievement Award was also rewarded at the same event to eminent artist, Mr. Mustafa Monwar. Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited graced the event and presented crests to the winners. In her speech, Ms. Chowdhury said, 'Berger takes part in various social activities as part of its commitment to the society. Berger Young Painters' Art Competition is just another vibrant example which is organized to bring out the hidden talents in young painters.'

Life Time Achievement Award winner, Mr. Mustafa Monwar, expressed his gratitude and appreciated the initiative of Berger in patronizing art. The chairman of the jury committee Professor Qayyum Chowdhury was also present at the ceremony who handed over the prize money and certificates to the winners. This year, Berger Young Painters' Art Competition received tremendous response with submission of 688 paintings from all over the country. Winners of the event are: 1st winner Amrita Kumar Pandit, 2nd winner Md. Moazzem Hossain, 3rd Winner Md Minuddin, 4th winner Mingku Chakma, 5th winner Ariful Islam and 6th winner Ehsanul Karim Aninda.

Berger paints also organized a painting competition for autistic children. Among the participants of group 'A', 1st prize was given to Naziba Anzum from School for Gifted Children, 2nd prize to Radif Ahsan Chowdhury Arian from Autism Welfare Foundation and 3rd prize to Masudul Imam Rizvi from S.W.A.C. From group 'B', 1st prize was given to Adiba Ibnat Poshla from Autism Welfare Foundation, 2nd prize to A. K. M. Akibul Haque Akib from Autism Welfare Foundation and 3rd prize to Farhan Syed Tanisha (Ananta) from School for Gifted Children.

Renowned singer Timir Nondi enthralled all the guests with popular songs in the program.

An Exhibition displaying the top 40 paintings of BYPAC was held at the Zainul Gallery of Dhaka University's Institute of Fine Arts from 10th to 15th December2011.
