Berger Paints mourns the death of Legendary architect Muzharul Islam, who left us on July 15, 2012 at the age 89.

The internationally acclaimed architect Muzharul was the first president of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh. He actively took part in the independence war and various progressive democratic and cultural movements. He designed the basic architectural structure of Jahangirnagar and Chittagong universities, the National Library, and the fine arts faculty building of the University of Dhaka. The planning of the Rangamati town and most polytechnic institutes of the country were designed by him. He was born at Murshidabad in West Bengal on December 25, 1923. Muzharul received numerous awards, including the Independence Award in 1999 for his contribution to architecture.
